What Service We Offer

Lifesprings Eldercare, Inc. provides 24 hour staff supervision of its facilities. In addition to its excellent caregivers it has an RN on call to ensure that the needs and comfort of residents are met and that family members can have the peace of mind that they need when they place their loved ones in our care.

24 hour supervision means that there will be caregivers within the facility on all shifts. Awake overnight staff check, change and reposition residents as needed.

All medications are administered by medication certified staff. Medications are reviewed by the Delegating Nurse within 48 hours of admission to the facility and at least every 45 days thereafter. Medication technicians are certified to administer insulin injections, oral medications, eye/ear/nose drops and or ointments.

A licensed Pharmacist also reviews the profile of each resident with more than 9 medications including all prescription and non-prescription medications and tube feedings for the potential for any adverse drug interaction and the potential of harmful side effects from these medications.

Prior to admission to our facilities potential residents are full assessed to determine their level of care needs. Our facilities are licensed to accept residents in need of level 1, 2, and 3 care. Our facilities can therefore accept any resident considered appropriate for assisted living. Level 1 residents require the least care and staff assistance and Level 3 residents require the most care and staff assistance.

We accept residents who:

  1. Need assistance with activities of daily living including bathing and grooming
  2. Are able to follow basic instructions for building egress
  3. Need one or two person assistance
  4. Need medication assistance
  5. Are continent or incontinent
  6. Have early/mid stage dementia
  7. Have Parkinson’s Disease

All staff, including those who are not caregivers, must receive training in dementia care. Residents with a diagnosis of dementia account for nearly 75% of our resident population. Therefore, whether the diagnosis is early or late stage, our specially trained staff work closely with residents, their families and health care practitioners to provide the most appropriate care for each resident.

Staff receive training in cognitive impairment and mental illness, effective communication with persons with dementia, behavioral intervention, meaningful activities, de-escalation techniques, providing comfort and dignity, and identification of stress triggers.

We monitor food and fluid consumption, pain management and social engagement.

Charges/Payment Options

Services may be paid for in several ways: – private pay; long-term care insurance; Medicaid Waiver; and the Senior Assisted Living Subsidy Program. Active duty veterans and spouses of veterans may also receive assistance toward cost of care through the VA. Both the Medicaid Waiver and the Senior Assisted Living Group Home Subsidy Programs are administered through the Prince George’s County Area Agency on Aging. All of our facilities are approved for participation in the Waiver and Subsidy programs.

The Medicaid Waiver program operates similar to the Medicaid program in nursing homes and the Subsidy program provides a monthly contribution of $650.00 toward cost of care for residents in assisted living who meet program criteria.

For additional information on qualification for assistance contact the Prince George’s County Area Agency on Aging at 301-265-8450.
